Centro Most Stylish Onliners Part#2 - End

Salaam, ladies :D Do you remember my last post about Centro Most Stylish Onliners?
Well, the second stage of the contest was held the next day, BUT the groups are separated to individuals. It means, no grouping anymore!!! AND my friends didn't have confidence to continue it!!!! AAAARRRGGHH I became the one and only girl who wears hijab that time! -__-"
The second stage's theme was "Nautical", and onliners should wear their outfit (no borrowing at Centro this time).
Wanna see what others wear? They're sooo stylish! And the most embarrassing moment was to walk on stage like a model, hahahahaha...
Where's my photo? Hehehee I don't have any proper pict of myself -___-"
From 45 contestants, only left 14 goes to the next round. We all get Rp 100.000 shopping voucher, alhamdulillah :D

And at the third stage, the theme was "Colorburst: Revlon". It means pinkish-orangey-purplish color.
AAAAANDDDD 10 contestants were chosen to go to the final round, getting Rp 1.000.000 shopping voucher!! I GOT IT!!! Alhamdulillaaaahhh :D (see my picture? I looked happy didn't I? :p)

Big Dilemma for The Final Round
The truth was, i got a dilemma to do the final round. The contest was held on Sunday noon, and I got a ticket to Denpasar at Sunday, early flight! (It's for working, not holiday, hehehe)

And the Rp 1 million shopping voucher was only valid for the shopping rally at final round!!!
Wawawawawaaaa... the work shall be done at Sunday night!

Then my decision was, rescheduling the ticket. Aaaaaa it was soooo hectic!!! Paying ticket rescheduling at Juanda in the morning, going to Galaxy Mall for the final at 11 a.m, and must be at the airport at 15.00 for flight at 15.55 p.m.

The final round itself was soooooo fun yet hectic & tiring.
Imagine this: Contestants were given Rp 1million voucher, and only 30 MINUTES to shop! Including fitting, paying at cashier (and you know the queue at weekend?), and styling ourselves wherever you find a place to change your clothes!!

Running here and there looking what shall i buy. What is good enough for the contest, and is good enough to be worn at my real life?? My choice: Pleated skirt (I've been wanting it since the few days before) & batwing top. And I must buy inner top because I didn't bring it from my house -__-" Lucky I found empty fitting room, so I could finish  styling on time :D
And I still left some Rp 100.000 vouchers :) I'll give it to my mom.

Tadaaaaaa.... here is me & some other contestants, styling with Centro's items :D
source of pict: Centro fan page
Why I put my picture larger than the others???? Because this is MY BLOG wahahahahahhh :))

I left the contest earlier (there should be some little presentation about the outfit but I took permission) coz I must catch my plane! The best look were chosen for an additional Rp 1million, and I didn't join until the end. So bye bye additional 1 million, but still, alhamdulillah, thanks Centro for the great experience (and shopping vouchers i got ^^)

Do you like my look?? It's somehow looked like a gypsy :p The effort was less than 30 minutes, and my body was shaking greatly (panic panic panic!) :D and i was the only one wearing jilbab! (umm, well, not really, coz some boys wore turban :P)
Vote my picture here :D Thank youuuuuu
*smooch*
PS: to like the picture, firstly you must like the centro's page ^^
And you can see what others wear, too... Fun!

Quoted Today

...from my twitter.

"Sometimes I think I am a girl with tons of creative ideas. What I'm afraid of, is to be a girl with ZERO action to make them real."

"Dear God, thank You for always giving me such inspirations :) Alhamdulillaah. Next action: Laa haulaa wa laa quwwata illaa billah.."

My Random Thinking

... I thought I was on my way pursuing my dream. Working at my family's company (to supply monthly-money-needs) and studying sewing at the same time.
But I'm now questioning.
I should have started everything if I am serious to have my own business. I should have done doing material research, looking for garment company, making my own label, having a business-partner, thinking of marketing strategy, but the truth, I haven't done all of that!!
I could have an excuse, "I am still studying sewing now..."
But that's just an excuse. If I'm willing, I could just hire a pattern maker.
I need some strength & some time to do it all (since I haven't got a partner by my side).
I am still afraid to fail, afraid to hurt myself.
Well yeah, I've read some motivation books, I've tried to be positive. I know that the best business idea is a business you start immediately!
Why I haven't started anything?

Actually it hurts me in a sweet way to see some of my blogger friends have already fly higher making their dreams come true. Surely I am happy, inspired, but jealous too! Heheheh.

Now I'm thinking to have a 1 month vacation. No working. Just thinking, and preparing my life. Can I???

Turquoise and Memories

Last Sunday I followed my mom visiting wedding at Graha ITS Surabaya. We're working to supervise the catering there. Well, going to wedding event but working at the same time, I wore my turquoise blazer. No time for mix & match so I grabbed any skirt I saw and any jilbab I have. Heyy luckily my Claro veil match the color! :D
Blazer: Sole mio, headdress + veil: Claro, dark brown shirt, skirt: 1st sewing task at Arva, flat shoes: Nevada.

Around 7.30 pm I felt bored and suddenly I had the idea of visiting my laboratory at the campus. No one can stop me. The road was dark, (hahaha only about 5 minutes walking from the event). I wished there were somebody at the laboratory (usually lab's assistant work at the lab until late at night).
Alhamdulillah my junior was at the lab with his friends :D
I played with computers there, looking at my friend's folders, found our old photos, and missing them sooooo much!

Then I went back to Graha. Heyyyyyyyy I met my juniors!!! They were my lab's assistant, eating the catering's food! Hmmmm that's why the lab was less crowded :p Cheese! :D
This picture was found in my friend's folder. We were KOI Laboratory's assistant! Miss u all brothers & sisters!!!

I was soooo happy meeting pieces of my life back in campus ^^

Desk Clutters

Salaam, readers (I wonder do I still have readers after the long hiatus? heheheh)

In case someone wondering where did I go the last few weeks, here are the answers:
1. Busy working
2. Joined fashion design competition and decided to sew by myself (to minimize budget)
3. Been busy sewing for the competition
4. Fell sick because I got really tired

During the "sickness" I stayed at home, bed rest >_<

Health is the greatest gift from God. We shall feel blessed of our health, and we need to measure our capability. Never push your body over the limit! Being sick was not good at all. My body heat turned to 40 degrees and headache was the most terrible I ever had. Gone to doctor twice, and spent some money for medicine.

If I was healthy, of course the money could be used for a better cause, for example, enjoying meal at a good restaurant hehehe.

Well, the photo above was taken when I was at home. Clutters in my study desk (btw I'm not using it for studying, so can i still call it study-desk? hahah).
Photo frame-gift; Glass decoration-gift; Small board-Daiso; Decorative candle-AJBS; Antique paper box-Gramedia.
I put the pictures of my dream on the board :D

Short Trip To Kuala Lumpur

So, after spending 2 days in Singapore, finally we arrived at Johor Bahru at about 00.00 am. It's midnight. Spend some minutes at immigration (one of us had trouble by losing a letter of arrival, but thanks God he found it), and continued our way from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur by bus.
At morning we arrived at a biiig, clean and new bus station (I forgot the name!). We cleaned ourselves (big thanks to wet tissues! hahahaha), changed clothes, and had breakfast.
Wowww, after being at Singapore, eating in KL seemed to be veryyy cheeaaap (you know, things were so expensive in Singapore). I bought Roti Canai + Tarik Tea for RM 2.7 (less than Rp 9.000). Yippieeee...
Then we took Rapid KL to KL Center. We put our bag in locker room and we were ready to go to Genting Highland! Poor us, we missed the bus to go to Genting, and the next bus was late at noon--we won't be able to catch our flight in the afternoon. Soooo we decided to do city tour. Petronas Twin Tower!!!

Here was the view outside Suria KLCC mall. Prettyyy :)
Well, actually, in Malaysia I felt sad. I was so sad because I knew our time was sooo limited to enjoy the country, the holiday, and especially, the togetherness. Three days with my college friends, I felt we were more like family.
After we had lunch at Suria KLCC (inside Petronas building), we spend an hour at Pasar Seni. Then, we went back to KL Center, took our bag, and the next destination was....
Airport.

Bye byeeeeee......
Ahhh I miss you guys :') I'm looking forward to our next destinations! Let's go see the world!!

Short Trip To Singapore Day #2 Part 2

So here we were! After we had lunch at Vivo City, we went to the famous Sentosa Island!! Straight to the Merlion, finally we could see it! (the last day we didn't see Merlion in Marina Bay)
Then we went to Imbiah Lookout, and took a few pictures :) (remember, we were saving our money soo badly so we didn't take any ride / attraction). Look at the view! I thought I was in Gotham city or somewhere, hehehehe....

Sentosa Island was sooo beautiful, I heart it :) Maybe if we wanna have a total experience, enjoying all attractions, we should have a full day (or maybe 2 days) tour there.
Then we went to Resort World Sentosa, where they have Universal Studio. Poor us, we intended to take a picture at the famous Universal Globe, but it was under construction! So we took a picture at giant banner surrounding the renovation. Pretty look alike the real globe, huh? :p

Well, we didn't go to the studio. A mistake we did at Sentosa was not to do shalat at the ___ bus station (forgot the name of place). It was THE ONLY place having pray room. You know, pray room at Singapore is not mushala. It was universal pray room for all religion. We were already at Vivo City again when we realized, even the mall didn't have pray room. So we did shalat dhuhur & ashar (jamak takhir) at emergency stairs!!! We saw a few cardboard at emergency stair, and we assumed, maybe other muslims also use the place!

Theeeeen, we went to Mustafa Center to buy some souvenirs. Ahh, I regret i didn't buy chocolate! Just skip the shopping part, hehehe... It's my privacy :P

It was already 10 PM when we finished shopping, and we planned to leave Singapore, heading to Malaysia. The plan was: return the Tourist Pass card and get SGD 10 back.
Buuuuttt,,, the locket has already closed at 9 PM!! So we couldn't get our money back, except if we came back at 10 am the next morning! (Secretly we all felt lucky, coz however we love the card and wanna keep it as our memorable item :)

We bought dinner at KFC (takeaway) in Bugis street, took our backpacks at hostel, and went to bus station--that would take us to Malaysia... bye bye Singapore, really want to see you again :)

---
Day 2
Entrance to Sentosa SGD 3 ~ Rp 21.000
Lunch at Vivo City Mall SGD 7 ~ Rp 49.000
Dinner at KFC SGD 3.5 ~ Rp 24.500
Bus to Johor Bahru SGD 4 ~ Rp 28.000

ehh actually I forgot the exact bus price, maybe cheaper..

Short Trip To Singapore Day #2 Part 1

Day 2 in Singapore :) Had breakfast at the hostel (cornflakes + milk + fruits + a cup of hot tea), and checked out immediately. But we still put our bags there, so we could take a tour lightly. Outside our hostel is the famous Sultan Mosque, biggest mosque in Singapore.

Then we took a bus to the National Museum. Ahhh the building was so classically niceee...

Here, the view inside the museum. We were just seeing around, and we didn't pay for the entrance. Too bad, because lately I heard the museum had many cool things inside, from culture to fashion. Hihihi. We were thinking to save money & time, so after we saw the museum, "Ah, so this is the museum.." then we went to another place. Poor Wirawan, he really wanted to go inside!

Then we took a walk to a MRT station that would lead us to VIVO City. We'd go to Sentosa Island!!! While we walked to nearest MRT station, we saw Singapore Management University. Cool!
And look at the road! Cars were only a few, and every cars let pedestrians walk first. Very gooood manner! I hope Indonesia could be as well-ordered as Singapore :) aamiin!

~To be continued~

Money spend at day 2 until this point: ZERO
(we've had our free pass for bus & MRT :D)
Um, I lied. I bought drink for SGD 1, so, I only spent Rp 7000 hihihi

Short Trip To Singapore Day #1

Just want to share a few photos and stories from my first trip abroad with friends :)
We arrived at Changi International Airport, and feel soooo amazed by the airport! Looks like a very exquisite big mall! And maps are everywhere, tourists can easily pick them for any informations about Singapore. I could just spend my day there but we didn't have much time. So many places we want to visit!
First trip was to go to hostel we already booked before. We booked Green Kiwi Backpacker Hostel at Lavender street, they offered pretty cheap price. Buuuuttt unfortunately,  they had a system error and our booking didn't exist! Luckily the staffs helped us to find another available hostel (it was a long weekend, many hostels were already full).

The photos below were our journey to Sleepy Sam's hostel (recommended by Green Kiwi). And we felt like "Wowww!! God has written this scenario for us!!" Because the Sleepy Sam's located VERY NEAR to Sultan Mosque. With the good location, the price should be expensive, but we were asked to pay at the same  price with Green kiwi ^o^ Good saving. Basically, it is in Kampong Glam / Kampong Arab, and I looveee looveee loooveee the atmosphere. Beautiful bright colors of buildings, and so many halal restaurants!

Available room was only dorm room. Do you know dorm room? I have never imagined i would spend a night in a room, with another backpacker from all around the world. Buut, it was not bad at all!! It was a big room filled with probably 20 beds, and luckily each bed had curtains for privacy. We would be outside all day long and only sleep at night, so it was okay :D
Leaving our backpack at hostel, it's time to have lunch!! Yeayy!! Kampong Glam offered halal foods! We picked "Kampong Glam Cafe" for our hungry stomaches destination :p The cheapest food was about S$ 3.5 (+- Rp 25.000) I ordered Nasi Goreng Pattaya Seafood for S$ 4.5 (second picture below). Yum yum!!
Neeext, we take MRT & bus to visit the city. We wanted to go to marina bay and see the famous Merlion Statue, but we had walked to wrong terminal a few times, hehehe. By the time we arrived at Marina bay, already daaark....
Take a walk again, and found out that the big Merlion was under construction. They built a hotel covering Merlion, so only hotel visitor could see it >.<
Then we took picture at the Merlion miniature :p
We continued our way to visit the famous Orchard Road, and saw big shopping malls. But we didn't go inside. We were backpacking, yeah, so we wouldn't want to shop the pricey things. Hehehhee... So we went to Lucky Plaza, then gone to Bugis street and had dinner there.

-----
First Day's spendings:
Ticket +- Rp 400.000
Airport Tax Rp 150.000
2 Days Tourist Pass (to access all bus & MRT) Sgd 26
(including Sgd 10 deposit, will be returned when we leave Singapore) ~ +- Rp 180.000
Hostel Sgd 21.5 ~ Rp 150.000
Lunch +- Sgd 5 ~ Rp 35.000
Dinner +- Sgd 5 ~ Rp 35.000

Total Day 1 = Rp 950.000 --> actually cheaper than this!
Depends on currency :D

Pictures from my camera, Mirsa & Adhit. Thanks ;)

Finding Another Passion

When routines has gotten dull, 6 college friends decided to go see the world. This is their first adventure going abroad together to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Do you wonder, where is the next destination?

We did asked a large number of people, but in the end, only 6 of us can do the trip. Weeks before the trip was thrilling, I felt so excited.
And then we travelled. See the world. So interesting to learn new places, new cultures. Going to somewhere I could only see the pictures. Trying new foods. Getting lost in translation. I am totally falling in love with traveling.
When I got home, everything felt like a dream. Empty inside my heart. Then, I can't wait to experience another adventure pretty soon I hope :)

I've forgotten my joy for creativity, and now, traveling is my passion. Hehehh.. kidding :p

Now I need to earn more & save more for the next triiipppp :D
Details on the backpacking trip coming soon.

Goldielock

What I wore to work yesterday:
Cardigan as blouse: Elizabeth toko tas di Surabaya; Belt: from mom; Beads necklace: Manggadua; Shawl: Mom's; SKIRT: MADE BY ME :D :D :D *grin*

hihihihi... those skirt was my very first outfit creation from sewing lesson. I've read all your comment from previous post (sorryyy i haven't visited your blog! Will do that at weekend, okay? :D)
And many of you said, wanna study sewing.
I encourage you all! Learning is fun! And once you get attached with your sewing machine, your sleeping dreams will be about sewing and your feet will keep moving just like when you hit the machine.
Of course I'm kidding.

Happy news today. Briptu Norman's punishment was done in a peaceful way :)

March Short Trip To Jakarta

March 18, 2011 I went to Jakarta. Visiting college friend of mine, who works at Jakarta now. The next day I went to Hijabers Community Launching, big thanks to Wulan who gave me ticket :D
I don't take any picture at the event.. Below is the only picture with my ex-boss from her camera ;D (aagghh my face was soo chubby >.<)
About the event: since many blogs have already written about it, I won't talk too much. I was so glad to meet some bloggers I only know from the net. And got some freebies from Wardah, Aquila magazine, and Noor.
Buuuutttt,,, somehow I don't think I'm suitable enough to join events like that. If you know what I mean, I feel awkward with a place surrounded by too much beautiful girl wearing high fashion items! Ahahaha!! Got it??
I just wanted a nice chit chat, like we do with our close friends, without any imitation self image a.k.a Jaim. I automatically turns to Jaim girl once I enter places like that :P

The next destination, Wedding Expo at Bidakara Hotel. Heyyy, not for arranging my weddinggg.. I went there because my family's catering had a booth and I become like "representative" of family to visit them. You know, at wedding expo you can taste many kind of foods from many catering! Hihihii...

Saturday night, before going to my friend's boarding house, I had dinner with mr. Tall. We found a restaurant on our way, named Olivo. He ordered steak, and me.. burger :D

Long story short, finally I had to go home again....
Bought Krispy Kreme doughnut at the airport, and alhamdulillah, my brother was soooo happy receiving it as souvenir. He ate almost all of the doughnut. And at home, I got a present from my college friend, Ika Nurshanti. Some books and block note. Thaaaankkksss....

What a lovely weekend :)

Seeing the end, in front of you.

I still cannot imagine, how's the feeling of people whose being in front of death. The feeling of people inside those cars which were hit by sea waves, 11/03/2011.
It's like my nightmare some years before, about the end of the world. In the nightmare, I stood in front of a window, watching the world slowly falling down. Nothing we can do. We just know that this is it. This is the time to let everything go.

My deep condolences goes to every victims in Japan's tsunami. May Allah brought them to a better place in peace.
And may the disaster reminds us about death, which we couldn't predict. So that, we must be ready every time, and always do good deeds.

Hijab: Rethinking

Lately I've found out some articles that made me rethinking, about the intention of wearing hijab.

From ListeNinda:
....Hijab, in my opinion, should be our cultural resistance against exploitation of women's concept of beauty. Hijab should be our religious defense from capitalism which takes advantage from women and making them feel uncomfortable of their body (body is too fat, skin is too dark), and their natural aging (wrinkles, dry skin, black spot, etc.)....

From Stylish Muslimah:
The concept of hijab is slowly being either changed, ignored or forgotten altogether.
In this day and age, 'wearing' the hijab to follow the rules of Islam is only one of many reasons a girl may have to do it. It is also the only intention that will lead her to any sort of reward.
I am not about to embark upon a long torrent of holier-than-thou preaching (as I am far flung from perfection), but this is just a small reminder that we should constantly question our intentions in the way we act, talk and dress, especially around those of the opposite sex (it does not cease to amaze me how 'free-mixing' has become something normal and encouraged amongst Muslims).
A good video to let us rethink:

Me myself is still far far away from perfection. But let's learn to be a better person everyday. And always remember our intention to wear hijab. Let hijab be our guard, from the opposite sex's attention and from the heat of hell in the after life :)

Meet up!

Last Sunday, I had the chance to meet two blogeritas I've known since the beginning of me blogging :D
Mbak Lely had lived in Surabaya, achieving her degree as a doctor. Too bad we haven't met when she still lived here. She has moved to Sulawesi with her husband. Luckily, last week mbak Lely went to Surabaya.
Mbak Elsa is an entrepreneur (I assumed). Around 2009 accidentally read her blog and amazed that her blog was soooo yellow! (She's yellow lover). Last week she had a business at Surabaya.
And the first meet up was held!

Meet Mbak Lely around 1 pm, we went to see Irna Mutiara's boutique: Up2Date. Then going around, looking for something to eat.
Eating at Top Noodles, and had a chit chat. That time mbak Elsa was still had something to do at other place (she planned to "runaway" to meet up for a while :D).
 Source of photo: Aishi Lely
Surprise!! Finally mbak Elsa come with her sister & baby Dija!! I think Baby Dija is the youngest blogger :D!! Hahahahaha
Source of photos: Mbak Elsa
Visit Yellow Life blog to read the story :) Want to see them again, such nice people ^^

Hmmm.... I'm wondering, when will be the next blogger meet up? Who lives at Surabaya? :D

What I wore:
Taupe maxi dress: Vannara, Crochet outer: from Mom (Bali), Crochet brooch: from Mom (pasar Atum), Flowery yellow belt: Mom's (JMP)

Never Bored

...wearing the same piece of batik dress, over and over again!
(Since I haven't bought more pieces of batik)

Batik dress: Dua Putri (Sutos Surabaya), Cardigan: unbranded, Bag: Mayonette, Shoes: UP
Sorry if you have to see me wearing this dress again in this blog heheheheh

Truthfully, I avoid shopping clothes right now. Well, what's the use of learning sewing if I still buy clothes? The sewing lesson has been emptying my wallet too, hahahaha
*But still, I am still far far away from "sewing neatly"
Had a problem to control machine to move in a direction I want. Just like driving a car.
Ahhh remembering I had done driving lesson twice and until now I'm not able to drive, really breaks my heart -__-"
Semangat semangat semangat!!! :D

Experiment 2010 - The Silver Skirt

Assalamu'alaikum :)
Long time no post about daily outfit... No mood for photo shoot and mixing & matching >.<

Been so busybusybusy lately, because I join a sewing class at Tuesday + Friday noon, a design class at Monday + Friday evening and keep working on Monday to Saturday. Forget to count the sewing homework heheheh
Keep up the spirit!!!! SEMANGAAAATTT!!!! \(^o^)/
Many many many people out there are much more busier than me, and even more tired.
SO, alhamdulillah :) Thank You Allah for every opportunity I have now.

BTW I found this picture in my hard disk. Awwww, I took the photo shoot at February 2010. Yeah, last year. Just an experiment of clothing, not really wearing them. Besides, the skirt is actually only a piece of fabric :D

Kinda cute to have a skirt with frills in the belt like that hohoho. Still haven't got the fabric sewn.

Apple Juice

A couple of years ago, me was at college and my little brother at his first year of junior high school. We used to have silly fights, like this one...

Apple Juice

Happy birthday, my brother. I guess you're no longer silly like that anymore :D

Black & Taupe

What I wore to office (and continued to design class at evening):

Black cardigan: unbranded, Taupe abaya: Vannara, Scarf: Zoya, Shoes: UP

The first picture was taken at my room, and the second picture at my office :D (me came first! So no one notice me click click camera! hahahaha)

What do you think of this combination?
I've heard that we should wear darker outfit for bottom, and lighter color for tops. Guess I'm breaking the rule... But rules are there for breaking, huh? :P

Looking good but not as ourselves?
Do you ever feel that sometimes we don't act like ourself, regarding to fashion? Me do. Just because I would meet stylish people at my design lesson, I would do some effort to mix & match clothes. Spending minutes in front of wardrobe, feeling like I've got nothing to wear. Then spend minutes more mixing this with that or those with these until finding good match.
That way, (maybe) I would look appropriate compared to other design students.

But maybe we could just be ourselves... not pretending to be cool or something. Just wear what we like. Whether it's so out of date, or we've worn it several time... it is much more relaxing (and even comfortable) to let go the stress of wanting new fashionable things--that will lead us to be unstoppable shopper.

Well, I'm still on my journey to have my own style. Are you? :)

PS: I wore UP shoes, designed by Indonesian blogger Diana Rikasari. It's soooo (amazingly) lightweight and comfortable :D
