New Year, New Challenges

Assalamu'alaikum warohmatullah wabarokatuh..
Happy new year, all!

The sad part of leaving 2010 was because December 31, 2010--which is yesterday--was my last day working at my office. My friends were questioning, why? They thought managing fashion business is my dream.
Well, that's true. And it's my dream, too that someday I will have my own label.

So my plans on 2011 are:
Working at my family's company, which is a catering. They had been offering me to do the branding & merchandising things since months ago. Wait.... does it have connection to my dream? Oh yeah :) After some compromises, they allowed me to study sewing and pattern making. The class will began hopefully on January 2011.

You can see that studying sewing was the biggest motivation, hehe.

According to the plans, I resigned. My bosses was kinda shocked at the beginning, but then accepted it with sincerity. I was very glad that I was given the opportunity to work there with two very inspirational owners (young husband and wive), they have broad visions of their business. Taking care of it seriously, and believe that every person who has worked there should come out as a better person, and hopefully can have their own business.. Thank youuuuu for finding me :')

Then one of the owner decided to join me study sewing! Because she has a big passion for fashion too. From boss to classmate! Hehehe isn't it amazing? :D

Spent the last days of 2010 having a role as a coach for my successor. Hopefully she can manage the office well :) Good luck girl!
Having a good-bye lunch at the office (I brought mi pangsit), and the designer there--who always count the last hours before the goodbye--brought watermelon. Aaahhhh will be missing those moments.

So, goodbye Vannara. But do wait for me to come there coz I still want to buy clothes!!!! Hehehehe...

Hmmmmm... as my boss found me through my blog, there's a big chance that she will read this post too. I just wanna say a biigggg thank youuu for everything! ^^

HAAAAAAAAAPPY NEW YEAAAAAAAR 2011!!

Celebrated NYE with my beloved friends and S...I had so much fun! We played Charades in the swimming pool, had a Guitar Hero competition, then set up fireworks hehehe...yay! :)

Anyways, I hope the new year will allow us to continue what we've worked hard for, and to achieve what we dream of...bismillah! :)

December started out chilly with a quick weekend in Montreal and ended back in San Francisco after a glorious week on Oahu. There was lots of good food in both places, stay tuned for more details!

Some of my favorite posts on the Epicurious blog were about cognac and brilliant (non-alcoholic) bubbly beverages. I also ran an interview with Elizabeth Andoh, author of the gorgeous book Kansha. One of my more popular posts was my best tips for making macaroni and cheese.

Speaking of tips, my somewhat controversial post on travel tips ran on Between Bites, there was also Dorie Greenspan's shopping guide to Paris (you'll want to bookmark it for your next trip!). Last but not least I also had a piece about the sweet treats you can eat in Louisville.

Finally I have some big news to share, as of January I will be the San Francisco editor of BlackboardEats.com. I hope you will poke around the site and sign up for great restaurant deals in Los Angeles, New York or San Francisco as well as the "everywhere" edition. I will continue blogging here and there.

Happy New Year!

Award Penutup tahun

Happy New Year!

Award for Redecorating My Room? Ehehe...

Salaam :D
Last weekend I re-layout my room. Well, since I rarely do any sport (ummm, NEVER is a more perfect word), I consider cleaning and changing my room layout as a sport... hahaha

Then I made a simple craft:

Semuanya tidak seperti yang Anda Kira

Kita melihat.

Kita menilai.

kita menghakimi
Seringkali kita menilai seseorang
atau situasi dengan hanya menggunakan mata kita.
Lalu kita membuat kesalahan kritis
karena kita pikir kita tahu bagaimana rasanya
dan berkata
"Oh, aku tahu persis apa yang Anda rasakan."

Itu tidak benar.
Anda mungkin pernah mengalami situasi yang sama,
tapi karena kita semua begitu berbeda
dalam semua aspek lain dari pengalaman kita,
keadaan dan kepribadian,
tidak ada cara nyata untuk
"tahu persis"
bagaimana perasaan orang lain.

Hoped in the miracle

The defeat was part of the life...
And will be felt very painful...
When confidence has filled the soul...

However...
Nothing is impossible...
To rise from adversity...
Although that needed the miracle...

The miracle that was created from the spirit...
To give off all the potency...

Because...
Always will have the way...
To get one's way...

As long as we try hard...
And keep learning...
To face and accept all the possibilities.

#dedicated for Indonesian Football team, hopely tonight there are miracle to make our dream come true :)

A rose in the middle of the desert

As a woman...
You were seen perfect...
So pretty...
Elegant and pleasant...

That is a reality...
That could not be denied...
By all the men in this world...

However till now...
You like a rose in the middle of the desert ...
As a mystery...
From the story "in days of yore"...

What are you looking for? ...
While the sun has risen...
And time continues to run...

Maybe you want to share...
To the man like me...
That has been imprisoned by your charm...

Not only to get your sympathy...
But I came "in good faith"...
To become part of your life.

#synopsis :

Pertanyaan ini biasanya ada pada orang yang menaruh perhatian padanya :).

Final score 0 - 3 Indonesia Vs Malaysia

We've seen how the Malayan tiger can slay Garuda Force 3-0 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium Malaysia. A bitter defeat that we never expected before, because we've been complacent  by the euphoria of victory.

The attitude of Malaysian fans are not fair to target the faces of the Indonesian national team players with a laser beam lesatan turned into reality. Previously, the act of sportsmanship that can not benefit Malaysia's national team is suspected as one cause of the defeat of Vietnam in the semi-final match against Malaysia.

Twitter users in Indonesia,  consider that cheating. In fact, so many who write tweets, the word 'cheat' trending topics into the world. Hashtag # malaysiacheatlaser entered the world in real-time trending topics.

Supporters of Malaysia is not sportsmanship. Since the initial round, green lasers continue to be directed into the face of goalkeeper Mark Harison to interfere with vision. When football corner to Malaysia performed at the ninth minute, immediately protested and referee Mark had put off a corner kick while.

The incident happened back in the second half. As Malaysia gets a free kick goal against Indonesia at the beginning of the second half, until the referee stopped the match in the 54th minute after a protest from the Indonesian national team coach. Indonesia also had a player walkout.

As a result of the incident laser beam, Indonesia lost concentration and momentum to victory in the second round. As a result, Firman Utina and his friends slaughtered by the host Malaysia 0-3 in AFF Cup final first leg, 2010, Sunday (26/12/2010).

Prior to the incident laser, Indonesia played a full discipline. "Team Red and White" is even capable scored first through shooting by Cristian Gonzalez during the second half just two minutes time. Unfortunately, the referee disallowed the goal because Gonzales was in an offside position.

All the momentum seemed to vanish after attack supporters of Malaysia Markus Horison shooting eye with a laser. The match had to be delayed for a few minutes and "Garuda" loss of momentum to attack the opponent.

Malaysia take advantage of this by turning the flow of the game. Attacks after attacks continue to be built until finally three goals lodged in wicket of Mark. Goals for Malaysia starting from the action Safee Mohd Bin Mohd Sali in the 60th minute utilizing feedback Norshahrul Idlan Bin Talahaoleh mature.

Hose eight minutes later, Mohamad Ashari Bin Samsudin increase the advantage Malayan tiger through a lightning kick. The third goal came from a header Safee Mohd Bin Mohd Sali  that free in the penalty box.

With this defeat the Red and White Team are required to win by a margin of four goals in the second leg to walk, on Wednesday (29/12/2010), in order to distort the situation and won the AFF Cup 2010.

2011 Food & Dining Trends

2011 Food Trends
I love reading trend reports and like a horoscope I scan to see what I agree with and what I don't. I hope you enjoy my predictions for what and how we will be eating and drinking in 2011! Agree or disagree, let me know your predictions and opinions in the comments section.

Farmers
1. Farmers and other producers are stepping further into the limelight as we grow weary of celebrity chefs. Did I just say that? Without naming any names, let's just say some chefs seem a bit overexposed. Lots of cookbooks in 2010 featured farmers, farms and locally grown produce. Farmers markets and eating local continued to grow in popularity as people discovered how good truly fresh produce tastes. Some of the best cookbooks featuring farmers this year were Growing Roots: The New Generation of Sustainable Farmers, Cooks, and Food Activists, Edible: A Celebration of Local Foods, Eating Local:The Cookbook Inspired by America's Farmers and my favorite, Harvest to Heat: Cooking with America's Best Chefs, Farmers, and Artisans.

2. Wild ingredients. This might be the next big thing after eating "local." Some are calling it "forest to table." Foraging won't be limited to mushrooms, but will include all kinds of unfamiliar ingredients from sea rocket to miner's lettuce and cucumber root. Haut cuisine chefs are already seeking out obscure but local wild ingredients. Daniel Patterson and Noma chef Rene Redzepi captivated their audience in San Francisco earlier this year when they spoke on the subject and handed out samples. Look for classes on wild ingredients and foraging expeditions.

unorthodox dining
3. Unorthodox dining options. Pop ups, food trucks, market stalls, underground supper clubs. It's not new, but the phenomenon just keeps growing. The difficult economy has inspired great creativity when it comes to tweaking traditional food business models. In San Francisco the restaurant within a restaurant took hold in the form of Mission Chinese Food, in residence at Lung Shan. Both entities seem to be thriving under the new arrangement. And pastry chefs have been branching out beyond restaurants to offer all kinds of exciting treats including ice cream, candy and cookies, find them at farmer's markets, pop ups, ice cream shops and more. A good example? William Werner's Tell Tale Society that offers a CSA-like monthly package of assorted sweets.

4. More interesting cocktails, beyond just vodka drinks. I think whisky and gin will continue to gain in popularity, but also the full range of browns--bourbon, rum, rye, tequila, and cognac. Rum in particular seems poised for a revival, punches and Tiki bars and tropical drinks are definitely back in vogue, examples include Smuggler's Cove in San Francisco and The Hurricane Club in NYC. Now will someone please let Miami know? Drinks there are stuck in the 80's!

Technology
5. Technology is making inroads into the dining room. Some examples include Qsine the Celebrity cruise line restaurant where iPads are used as menus for food and wine, location aware check-ins and online dining discounts being offered by start-ups like Groupon and BlackboardEats, and an OpenTable iPhone app for making restaurant reservations on the fly.

6. Fusion is back! Actually I'm not sure it ever went away, but right now, it's not a dirty word. It's not just high end cuisine that is combining French and Japanese, you'll also find it often with street food, and in more everyday restaurants too. David Chang makes bacon dashi and Dennis Lee of Namu makes Gamja fries with kimchee relish, teriyaki, and chopped short ribs. Other favorite bites in this category include Korean tacos, mole duck sliders, Japanese ceviche, ube red velvet cupcakes, Indian pizza.

offshoots
7. Offshoots, gastropubs and burgers. Even the most high end restaurants need something to appeal to the masses. Look for more big name chefs and restaurants to open accessible restaurants, cafes and even airport kiosks. The tastiest food I bought in an airport this year came from Icebox Cafe in Miami, a trendy Lincoln Road favorite.

8. More ethnic fast casual. Call them chains or just multiple outlets, these restaurants have hit on a formula that resonates. Local examples include Out the Door, King of Thai Noodles, Papalote and Pica Pica. I can only hope we will see more Japan-based high quality ramen shops open up as they have in places in Honolulu.

savory sweets
9. Savory sweets. I'd love to tell you that cupcakes are going away. But they aren't. However they are morphing as are other trendy desserts, and taking on adult and savory profiles. Butch Bakery makes cupcakes flecked with bacon, and infused with everything from beer to brandy. Foie gras ice cream has appeared in San Francisco, LA and in Montreal, meanwhile soft serve vanilla ice cream topped with olive oil and salt is becoming a dessert menu standard. At last year's Winter Fancy Food Show Fabrique Delices was sampling savory macarons then at Boutique Point G. in Montreal I discovered crazy but delicious flavors including white truffle, parmesan and green olive. New York based Little Oven sells olive oil and balsamic macarons.

10. Sustainable meat. While offal has been trendy there often isn't that much of it available. With the concern over health, safety and the general nightmare that is concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO), I think there will be renewed interest in rabbit, animals that graze such as pasture raised lamb, bison, venison and goats as well as organic and grass-fed beef. I also think less used cuts will be more popular such as veal breast and lamb riblets.
