DIY Easy Clothing: Twisted Kimono Shrug

Another simple styling of shawl into a different level of clothing: shrug with kimono look-alike.

I used Delisha's patterned shawl and 3 (three) pins

1. Twist the center of shawl

2. Wear the shawl, with the twisted part below your chest

3. Pin the back of the shawl to your shirt (see a similar step here if it's not clear enough)

4. Pin the sides of the shawl to the sides of your shirt (to create sleeves)

Done!

(If you want it more secured, pin the twisted part, too)

DIY Easy Clothing: Shawl-Hoodie Vest

Yihaaaaa :D Finally I'm back with DIY Tutorials.. don't you miss it? wehehehehe (No, Tia, we don't miss it)

Soooo, you girls probably have some shawls at your wardrobe. Here's a few steps to turn your cotton shawl into hoodie vest. Well, 'hoodie' things is so in trend right now, eh?

To make hoodie vest, you need: 

Cotton shawl (mine is from Kamiidea 200 x 60 cm)

1 pin

1 brooch (if needed)

1. Wear the shawl over your head. This is to create 'hoodie' effect.

2. Take the outer side of your shawl to the back of your body. Make sure the shawl is at the same length.

3. Pin the shawl at the back of your blouse. Yes, your blouse. This way, your "vest" is more secured.

VOILA! As simple as that :D yayyy!!

Now you could create some improvisation. 

1. The back view of finished hoodie vest

2. Hoodie vest worn as it is.

3. The shawl at the shoulder is folded to the neck (so the "sleeve" is gone). The "hoodie" is not being worn.

4. Hoodie vest worn with jacket. The vest itself is buttoned by a brooch.

Is that all, Tea?

Well, you could create another style.

1. Grab some fabric from the center of your chest (from left & right shawl, probably 7 cm).

2. Pull up a little bit.

3. Pin at the center.

Voila! It has more drapery ;D

Slouchy Saturday & DIY Aladin Pants

Mbak Lely once asked me, where did i buy the aladin pants I wore in this post.

Well, actually the pants was bought in Up2date. And it WAS not aladin pants :D It's a wide kulot pants, and too long for the short-me.

DIY Aladin Pants :

1. I made the "too long" pants shorter by folding the bottom seam

2. Sew to make a seam at the bottom

3. Insert a ribbon (cut some thread at the joint of fabrics, for the ribbon's hole)

Voila! The wide pants can be worn in 2 styles now :) Just pull & tie the ribbon to create aladin pants.

My DIY Fabric Wallet

Spent my Sunday all day thinking (the mechanism of a proper wallet), cutting and sewing. 

Meet my new love. 

Sorry, no tutorial, heheheheh... As I sewn this without enough preparation, and spend so many trials & errors that were left undocumented.

Well, actually the first steps were captured. But why should I make tutorial when I have no pictures of the last steps?

TIPS for making next wallet: Use cardboard for inner (maybe). Mine is not stiff enough.

But I won't make this once more... Tooo difficult for meeeee.... T^T

T-Shirt Revamped To Tulle Dress

Just remembered I got this... A plain T-Shirt, got revamped by adding some fabric yoyos (flowers) and tulle for tutu skirt at the waist. And cut the neck line, and shorten the sleeves. Done this at February 2011 for T-Shirt Remake Competition but didn't win. The theme was "Valentine"... Mine was "floral bouquet". Actually the design itself has 2 lollipop inserted, to add cuteness hehehe. 

Ahhh you should see the other competitors, theirs were sooo creative! I only got them captured by my cellphone, and the picture quality is so no no no no...

Enough talking. Enjoy :)

 Just add some fabric yoyos and sew tulle around the waist!

I said bye bye to this thing yesterday. Cut it into half. Probably I'll turn the "skirt" into tulle bag... And the upper side? I'll take the fabric yoyos to create cute brooches :) lalalalaaaa...

DIY: Reversible Batik Vest

Done making a simple vest yesterday. Started at 6 am in the morning, finished in less than 2 hours, and wore it to office :D

HOW TO MAKE IT?

I found 2 sheets of batik fabric, they were scraps of mom's uniform :p

Mine were @ 105 x 50 cm. You can have them larger. No need to measure seriously.

In photo: (1) cut rounded the bottom; (2) have the wrong side (bad side of fabric) facing you, sew the sides but leave the top unsewn; (3) turn out, now you have good sides facing you. Pin the top side for easier sewing; (4) sew the top; (5) make arm holes. Tips: use your blouse to mark where the arm holes should be.

You're done. You can wear it for many styles... wear the bottom side for top, wear as cowl vest, wear it inside out, or whatever, just as you like.

For the arm holes, I used blanket stitch (tusuk felton). Couldn't think the fastest way to make them neater coz I was about to go to office. Yesterday was batik day, right? Heheh. But actually the blanket stitch was the-most-time-consuming part of the creation. So if you can suggest another easy way to stitch the arm holes, I am happy to hear that :D (kepikiran pake bisban tapi gak ada di rumah)

This is the third task of my sewing school :) Making blouse. I still can't believe I am able to do that.

A few months before, I was a girl who is afraid using sewing machine. And to produce clothes by my own hand, well, nothing beats the pleasure ;)

Last weekend I re-layout my room. Well, since I rarely do any sport (ummm, NEVER is a more perfect word), I consider cleaning and changing my room layout as a sport... hahaha

Using pink unused-paper-bag & magenta wrapping paper. Added bones to the magenta ones so they don't swirl.

DIY: Scarf Hanger...

... in no more than Rp 10.000!! (USD 1)
What you need: Unused magazine; double tape (USD 0.6); ribbon +- 4 meters ($ 0.2); clothes hanger; scissor.

* I used a pencil to help me rolled the paper -- also to create hole in the pipe.

* Insert a ribbon! Create a ladder! As much as you want!

* Then tie the ribbon to cloth hanger
PS: knot the ribbon at the last intersection of the paper-pipes *ah bingung jelasinnya pake Inggris... pokok'e di perpotongan pipa yg terakhir, tuh pitanya diiket ya kawan, biar gak mlengse2 *halah apa ya bhs Indonesianya*

Looks easy, huh? :D I was just thinking to buy a scarf hanger, and I thought, why not making it? From CRAP to CRAFT!! Hahaha...

I made this yesterday. Now it's still okay. I am a little bit worried about the plastic hanger (well, the magazine-paper-pipes are not things to be worried, they're strong u know..)
I hope the plastic hanger could resist the weight of my scarves. And I need to make more coz there are still many more scarves in my wardrobe that's sooo messy!

DIY Easy Scrapbook

The second time being confused about what to give for wedding present (the first time was written here).. Household appliances such as teapot-set or bed sheet or else could be useful but how if everyone else gives that too?

Angpao (money) is a great choice but surely it's not something memorable..

So, why not just give angpao + scrap book?

I made a scrapbook (very economical) for my best friend. Very quick to be made, too. Steps:

1. Find Scrapbook Template at google.com
2. Save the picture
3. Edit at Photoshop, add your photos
4. Print at digital printing with a good quality
5. Bind with lovely ribbon

 The Cover

 First year at industrial engineering, we became friends, got involved at college organization, and had fun together. Years gone by, we'll still be friends. Sweet memories, birthday surprises, tears and laughters will remain in our hearts :')

 We were sooo happy when we graduated. It's time when we shall be separated, but we know we should follow our own destiny. Hey, my best friend has already having picture with her future-in-law, too.

And my most ambitious, talkative, and quirkiest friend was the first one getting married! Married at July 2010, had wedding ceremony party at November 2010. May she and his husband be happy ever after, and have a family as Muhammad s.a.w. guides.

A cup of life & DIY Daily Planner

Last week my 'someone' told me that he's already gotten something for me from Jakarta. He planned to go to Surabaya at weekend to attend our friend's wedding.

"Waaa, what do you have for me?" me said.

"Something small, and you can hold it with in your hands!"

"What is it exactly??" I insisted to know.

"Ahhh let's just do a gift exchange! Now you should prepare something for me!"

Was I wrong to imagine he would give me something like this??

Then I decided to create something by my own hand just for him. Besides, he would give me something precious, right?

A daily planner will fill up his days :D

Then I sewn a book cover (pardon me if the design became too feminine huhuhu). Totally handmade :D

And then, there came the day we do gift exchange.

So curious what he brought me??

Oh please... A souvenir from an exhibition.... Am I the only one who's pathetically dreaming something romantic or what? What am I gonna do with that?

DIY: Fabric Corsage

Easy breezy beautiful :)

1. Cut fabric into round shape (different sizes)

2. Burn the sides until they swirl (be careful with the fire!!!)

3. Sew/glue your fabric pieces and add pin at the back

Worn this corsage to the fashion show... hehehe... You can do better than me ;)

Tutorial: Braided Hijab

Assalamu'alaikum... Voila, here comes again the Hijab Tutorial hehehe...

Actually this hijab style is inspired by miss Hanna from Hijabscarf :)

Here's the steps...

What's needed: Inner hijab, Square hijab, 4 pins

1. Wear a basic hijab to cover your ear and neck. Remember that it's part of our aurat and don't let them be seen ;)

I used dark brown spandex headdress by Claro and light brown inner by Tuneeca (worn backside)

You can wear a basic hijab, too :)

 2. Add a square hijab (that has been fold triangle). To be neater, use pins: 1 over your head (so the hijab won't slip), 1 at each side below your ears

3. Bring all the remains of hijab to one side

4. Make braid from the fabric, pin at the end so it won't fall apart.

Here I took the braid to the other side of my neck and pin it with a corsage. Or you can just left it hanging there :D

Voila it's done...

DIY Idul Fitri Envelope

I bought this cuuuteee Idul Fitri envelope at Carrefour last night... Awww adore it!! 

Then, why not making the envelope by our own hands? :D

Ahhh I'm such an idea copycat >.<

Click to enlarge, print it on A4 paper... The envelope size is enough for paper money hehehehe.. Glue the figurines as you want, to make pop up effect use a thick double tape. 

For the black and white version: (Color it by yourself, or simply put gift wrapping or collages)

Cotton Ink Shawl for Hijab?

Assalamu'alaykum! Hiii... :) Meet me again on my last posting before Ramadhan ^^ 

You guys have known the brand cotton.ink, rite? I've been so curious about their shawl... Which will look fabulously good on fashionable person but also will look like "kain gombal disampirkan"--if our outfit doesn't match.

Well, I ordered one. It's the London Cream Classic Shawl. The material felt like Vannara's clothes... and I just feel like I could make my own piece from leftover materials -_-" hehe..

Then,, it's time to think how could I, or we hijab girls, can wear those shawl.

I've been inspired by Living Daisy's style here.

First trial:

Wear basic hijab. Wear the shawl outside. Pin at the back, and you're done. Let the rest cover your chest :D

Second Trial:

Wear basic hijab. Wear the shawl outside. Cross the rest of the shawl and wear it over your head. Let it be loose like wearing capuchon :D

Third Trial:

Wear basic hijab. Make ruffles of your shawl and pin it with brooch. Voila.

!!!Be careful when you pin it or the material will be torn!!!

Review:

• Well, the shawl is wearable, and can be worn in several ways. But I'm not sure I'll be confidence enough to wear fancy hijab hehehe.
• Material is a good cotton (I guess it's combed cotton).
• Color is so pale. I don't really like it actually.
• Prize vs quality: hmmm fair enough.. A little bit pricey I think, but their name is getting famous, rite? It's the brand.
• Buy again? Umm maybe :)

DIY Fringe Bolero from Pashmina [2]

By the time this post appear Insya Allah I'll be at Mekkah (Mecca) ... Bismillaah... Hope everything goes well, hope Allah enlighten our heart, always...

And this is the second series of experiment on pashmina... 

The result:

Wear it short or wear it long, up to you :) [1st & 2nd picture: short--pull the cardigan until the seam (I mean the pin), get closer to your armpit. 3rd picture: long--simply wear it]

Hmmm.... Hahaha it's not neat enough :p

DIY Fringe Cardigan from Pashmina [1]

Insya Allah tomorrow I'll go abroad... I'll tell you later, hehehe... Sooo just enjoy this scheduled-post ;) I just don't want to let my blog empty for a week hehehe...

As I've promised before, I'll post my experiment on pashmina... I do think this is a kind of draping. We will make a piece of cardigan without cutting/destructing the fabric (anyway who wants to cut their pashmina?? no wayyy) :)

Wellllll,,, this is soooo simple:

Stitch the blue area. Make sure to leave some space (no stitch) which is wide enough for your hand.

And the result:

Use it as cardigan... or simply attach a cute brooch (featuring Luchie's brooch) as on the last picture.

I got those crocheted brooch from Luchie... it's a surprise prize ^^ Thank youuu Luchieee you're so creative!

DIY Ribbony Bow Cardigan

I once saw a cute ribbony cardigan at a boutique and I thought of make it by myself. So here I am, so excited at Sunday morning transforming my old piece of cardigan ^^

Plain grey cardigan + ribbons

= Ribbony Cardigan!

The first idea was to use safety pins for the bow (just like a brooch), but I'm running out of safety pins. So I sew the bow, and then I couldn't stop sewing those little beads.. Hmmm, a black polka dotted skirt would be perfect to match the cardi :)

Paperdoll Again, Boy & Girl

Ines said on my previous Paperdoll Project that the girls in her class loved the paperdoll, but the boys also wanted some to play! :D So here I'll post them ^^ Sorry for taking so long for blogging, too lazy to think what's next to write on Tealovecoffee *lazy syndrome*. Sometimes I just feel like losing my creativity, hahaha :p
